Costa Rica enjoys one of the oldest and most stable democracies in Latin America. The army was abolished in 1948, and thus, Costa Rica is one of the only countries in the world without a military of any kind. The money that the country saves by not having armed forces is invested in improving the quality of life of the Costa Ricans, which contributes to social peace and welfare.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to our ex-president, and now current president, Oscar Arias Sanchez, due to his perseverant fight in the search for approval of his Central American Peace Plan back in the 1980's.

Costa Rica is characterized for its natural beauty. It is one of the countries with the largest amount of protected land in the world; 25% of its territory consists of areas governed by strict standards and regulations about public usage, dedicated to national parks or natural reserves.

Its social and political stability, high health standards, and a high education level (one of the highest levels of literacy in the world, corresponding to 96.2% of the population), along with the development of telecommunications, has contributed to Costa Rica being considered as a place suitable for foreign multinational high-technology investment by companies. Intel Corporation, Laser Sight Technology, Siemens, Procter and Gamble, and others, all have a presence in Costa Rica.

One of the main incomes for Costa Rica comes from tourism. Foreigners visit the country often for its beauty, natural attractions, and wildlife adventures. Also, in having such a stable climate, the country can be visited at any time of the year.

Costa Rica is a paradise for surfing, sport fishing, golfing in beautiful fields with ocean view, ecologic tourism, and is currently the main destination for health tourism, due to the fact that cosmetic and dental surgeries are performed at a much lower cost than in other countries, of superior international quality and prestige.

Its strategic location, the government's positive attitude toward commercial transactions, infrastructure, and easy access to international markets, make Costa Rica the ideal place to invest in real estate, with the certainty that your investment will grow exponentially in very little time.
